lunesque: The face of a pale girl with dark hair. Faded text. (cyclops is badass)

I have finally finished the huge stack of comics that's been living on my coffee table for the last six? months (with the exception of Avengers: Children's Crusade, mostly because Dad hasn't gotten issues 2 and 3 yet) and I have this to say about X-Men: Schism:

Marvel, you made it easy for me. ETA: Okay, after going through a list of the characters, they might not have made it as easy for me as I'd hoped. ^^;

quick spoilers on Schism )

So, after the dust has settled, there's two teams of X-men now. And Uncanny X-men looks like it's going to be my baby. I'm not going to give a full list of the characters, these are just my favorites, but!

Favorite characters, and which side they chose )

As you can see, most of my favorites are staying with Cyclops. Which makes me \o/

And that, such as it is, makes me curious. [personal profile] dungeonmarm and I looked at the DC 75th Anniversary Postcard Set, and one of the covers featured was Infinite Crisis #7, ie The Death of Supergirl, and had this knee-jerk, nostalgic feeling toward that comic. When I was younger, that was the comic for me. I would pull it out whenever my dad would let me and I would cry every damn time. This issue, and X-men #303 (The Death of Illyana Rasputin) are my formative comics. They made me love the medium, and I feel like I carry a part of them around with me as a memory of how painful and meaningful a comic can be, even though they might have their bad times. When they're good, they're very good.

Do any of you have any moments like that? Can you tell me what comic made you a comics lover and why? I'd be interested in hearing about it.
