I haven't posted in days because my laptop has officially decided to die, so I now I can't post whenever I want, and I have to go into the flea bed of iniquity that is my father's bed room (since although I've vacuumed and dusted every other room of the house with flea poison, my dad's room is actually messier than mine and provides a unique challenge to the murder of parasites) and so I try to go online and mostly scream "Ack! Flea! *homicide* Okay, where was I?"
At any rate, work is still work, although I'm apparently better at it now than I was before, and everyone is pleased and amazed, and therefore more disappointed when I make a mistake. (Seriously, when I made a mistake the other day that caused a negative effect on my stats, my team lead came by to talk to me, the other team leads came to talk to me, and the overall manager for the program came out to talk to me. I felt like saying, "I've had six people in the last three minutes talk about a mistake that I can't change. Get off my back so I can do my job correctly.") >:0
I haven't been reading much fic lately, which is awful, so I've actually been reading awful romance novels and fun neurotic reference books and doing research for my twins in my original work (does anyone know how good of a school Argosy Univerity is?) Because Alex is a PI in Los Angeles and now Raven is all, "Why should I wait for Alex to come back to Amarillo when I can go with him to L.A.? And I could even go into Forensic Psychology and help him out with his cases!!" And I say (fondly): Remember when Raven Chase was satisfied just being a supporting character who was just rarely mentioned and popped up on occasion? Yeah. Not so much anymore.
And in brief mention of the kind of sga crack my brain has been on (and this is mostly for
scheherezhad's amusement):
* the bad romance novel that I'm reading totally needs to be a John/Rodney AU. Because there is an intrepid reporter-amnesiac-psychic and the laconic cop sent to protect her. And it's so obvious that John is the cop and Ronon could totally be his partner, and the reporter's family could totally be Jeannie and Caleb and Madison and his body guard is so Teyla. Now, all I have to do is manage to get to the end of the book so I can figure out how it ends and if the main villain ends up being more Genii or Wraith-like in their reasoning. We should totally write this, Leslie, so I need to get the book to you after I make some notes. (I also abused the word 'totally' in this paragraph. Jeez. Am I reverting to California Valley Girl speech now? Like, totally! For sure! Look, I've got a manicure!*headdesk*
* Does the new Linkin Park song Leave Out All the Rest remind anyone else of Rodney? (I've even uploaded the song here: yousendit link)
* Zarita + me + boredom = SGA AU based around the Spirit of the Dance CD in which John has somehow morphed into a lazy lounge singer who plays the harpsichord and Rodney is the manager who makes things happen. And of course the band is called Atlantis and they play in the Pegasus Bar and Ronon is the big deep drums whose name I can never remember and Lorne plays the bass and is totally cool and Elizabeth and the control room people are violins and Teyla is a flautist and Zelenka is totally synthesizer. And they hire Kavanagh to play the piano for a concert but he passes out right before he's scheduled to go on stage and that's how the team finds out that Rodney can play the piano. And their rival is SG-1 (who aren't cool enough to have a name of their own) but the SGC is a brass section and O'Neil plays the guitar. And that's far too much detail for something that isn't going to be written. So, anyway.
In other news, I've finally managed to convince my mum to play karaoke revolution with me. Yay! And now Rick wants Rock Band because he wants to play the guitar and Tommy wants to play the drums and they both know that my mum and I can sing. So who knows. It might be fun. :D
