Okay, I just saw the movie 'Signs'. Fantastic! At first I thought it was going to be this lame alien invasion type movie, like so many other bad scifi alien shows, but it wasn't. (I really should have more faith in M. Night Shyamalan, shouldn't I?) What I discovered was a study of a man's fears, and the loss, search and rediscovery of faith. Sooooo good.
Yesterday I went to Magic Springs in Hot Springs, AR. (Just a couple of hours drive for me!) And it was sooo hot. I hate summer in Arkansas. Not only is it hot, but it's muggy and makes your clothing stick to you in the worst places. I got a snow cone, but I kept getting brain freeze with every bite, so I only ended up eating about half of it. And I discovered a new favorite thing! 'Dipping Dots, the ice cream of the future!' It's this great little thing of tiny ice cream balls mixed together that melt in your mouth. I was almost afraid to eat it simply because it looked so neat.
I went on this ride called 'Twist and Shout', basically a little ride with hairpin turns, and it jerked me around so much that I broke a rib. (Not really, but it sure felt like it at the time!) I bruised it, at least. And then there were all those hills I had to climb up over and over again. Normally, they wouldn't be that much of a problem, but five HOURS of walking over hills does stuff, and I think I pulled a muscle in my thigh. (It really hurts when I walk!)
What made the whole day worthwhile was the Talent Show near the end of our visit. It mostly sucked, until this one band got up--I forgot what they were called--but they actually had trombone players! It was like rock with a brass section of their very own! 'Why can't you see? Who would you be? Someday I'm gonna be all on my own' A chorus of theirs. It was really catchy. Wish I could have recorded it! So now I have to add musician on to my list of things I need to be--even though technically I already am, since I can play a flute, sing, and play some piano...
But my goal is still to become a novelist who makes 40 million dollars a year, so I need to work on that. :) Don't I just have a lot of self-confidence?
