OMG GUYS OMG
This actually gives me the opportunity to talk about Violent Messiahs without feeling like I'm being super dumb.
Omg. Okay. Violent Messiahs is a comic book series that had two arcs—the first arc ran for 8 issues, and then there was a second miniseries that ran for 4. (If you are interested, pm me, because I have the canon on my hard drive. I WILL GIVE IT TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE. Also, I've bought the series three times now. Because VIOLENT MESSIAHS.)
It's the story of a police officer named Cheri Major and what happens after she transfers from New York to a place called Rankor Island. I will be the first to say that it's a little Gothic and pretentious (Rankor Island? The Rankor Island Police {who run around with RIP written on them all the time because of it?} Over the top poetry?)—
But somehow, despite all of its flaws, it's more than that. It's got serial killers and vigilantes and secret societies and fucked up people in a fucked up place doing fucked up things. It's about all the horrible, dark things in life, about changing your destiny, about finding something to fight for. It's a love story. It's crime.
There's no one moment I can pinpoint, both because the series was so short lived, and because I've lived with this canon since I was seventeen and every moment leads to the next and the next. JUST READ IT, OKAY? JUST LOOK AT MY ICON.
