Initial impression of the new X-men movie

Oh, my god, what a mess. At least Charles and Erik are still madly in love.

Actual line: "Storm, Scott, Jean. Remember our names."

...um. Storm's name is ORORO MUNROE. Extra fun fact: she's listed as 'Storm' in the credits.

Bishop was by far the best part of the future. So sad he blew up.

Wow. So Erik and Charles are really crazy in love with each other.

Peter Dinklage is the best. He brought some seriously needed genuine gravitas to the movie.

Quicksilver was Peter, not Pietro. Therefore, I do not believe he's actually Quicksilver. He's just a speedster. That's cool too. His scenes were surprisingly entertaining.

The computers were ridiculously modern. Also, Peter was wearing modern headphones.

Kitty Pryde does not have mind teleportation powers, movie. It was Rachel Summers. It was telepathy. You should've had Old!Xavier do it. It would've made more sense.

Glad to see Havok. Less glad to know that Emma, Sean, Janos, and Angel are all dead. Saves us from having to worry about them being mentioned more than once in the script.

APOCALYPSE.

Quicksilver was Peter, not Pietro.

And yet, in the credits, he was literally listed as "Quicksilver/Peter".

Also: APOCALYPSE. It makes me want to Wiki to brush up my canon knowledge, to be honest. But it's not like the films are exactly canon-compliant anyway.

So Erik and Charles are really crazy in love with each other.

Crazy in love and kind of ruined each other for anyone else.

I think in X-Men I'm a little lucky in that I was only into the comics a long while ago (late 90s, actually) and only for a few years. And I was a huge fan of the cartoons as a kid, so I came into canon with the idea of multiple canons for same characters.
