Hm. The best I've read so far, though it wasn't save-it-and-reread good, is Halfway Home from the 2007 SPN/J2 Big Bang (which is what I'm working my through for the time being). I also have to admit to liking a porn star AU from said Bang, but it was disappointing in that it picked at a few of Jensen's issues caused by being in the business, but it didn't delve into the meat of them, and the boys got together way too easily at the end. I wanted more emotional drama and uncertainty and relationship missteps, dammit. [semi-crankyface]
There was an AU that I read where Jared was the little brother of Jensen's college friend, and there was lots of angst in there too. I need to find it again. :D
It was fantastic. And then, since Jensen was having issues because Jared was younger and in high school, they kinda broke up and then Jared got together with Chad Michael Murray.
And I'm also amused that their other pairing name is Padackles. It amuses me more than J2.
:D I totally read it last night. It made me flail, because I love when AU!John-and-Rodney have that inexplicable instant connection (which I thought was handled very nicely here). Oh, boys. *happy sigh*
