(no subject)

You guys are seriously so awesome! (Thanks to [personal profile] sperrywink and [personal profile] frenchroast for giving me prompts, for real. It makes blogging so much easier! /o\)

So, today I'm going to talk about all the fall television I'm looking forward to watching. It's embarrassing (only not really, because I'm so excited) but the only shows I've actually been tracking the premiere dates of are my CW superhero shows—Supergirl, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow. This gives me the opportunity to look at new shows!

Looking down the list, the first one that pops out to me is Agents of SHIELD. I haven't watched that show since they killed Agent Tripplett, and to be honest, I haven't missed it. I do miss Agent May, but this probably isn't going to be on my watchlist for this year, either.

And now I'm watching the trailers for all the new shows on ABC. /o\

Is anyone going to watch Speechless? Upon trailer review, it's really bugging me on multiple levels—some to do with ableism and the really bad directions they could go with this show, and I'm not all that particularly fond of comedies to begin with.

It looks like the first show on ABC to really catch my interest is Designated Survivor. I generally like political thrillers, I love Kiefer Sutherland! And it's got Kal Penn and Maggie Q, so just off of the strength of the cast I'm totally going to watch this one for at least a couple of episodes.

I'm also vaguely interested in Conviction, mostly because it's got a diverse cast and Hayley Atwell, but I don't know how long watching a bunch of lawyers be miserable is going to keep me. We'll see, though.

Now, one show I'm actually super interested in is Still Star-crossed because! Romeo and Juliet aftermath! Great, diverse cast! IDK, I just really dig this, I love the concept and I love the trailer.

The last show on ABC that I'm worried about is Time After Time. On one hand, time travel! Serial killers! (even if it is JtR and he's overdone.) But there's also something that makes me really uncomfortable. IDK. The white man out of time trope? Is it HG Wells? I just feel like it's very Sleepy Hollow like in premise (even though it looks like our black woman character is his great grand-daughter, so at least that removes the potential romance from the scene there) and honestly I don't know if I can trust this show to do things right. I may watch one or two eps to see how it is, but I don't hold hope out for loving it.

The only thing I genuinely care about on CBS now that Supergirl has been moved to the CW is Elementary, and I'm...two seasons behind, I think? Hulu has the seasons I've missed, though, so I'm hoping I'll be able to catch up again.

As for the new stuff, I am curious about Pure Genius (because I'm a sucker for medical miracles. I even watched House MD almost until the end of the series) and I'm super torn on Training Day. It's such a loaded situation, especially with the police brutality issues that have been on the news, and I don't know how to feel about it. Maybe someone will watch it and tell me what it's like.

Here's where things get interesting for me, which also makes me mad because UUUGH FOX I STILL HAVEN'T FORGIVEN YOU FOR CANCELING ALMOST HUMAN, OKAY? They have a super bad track record of getting amazing shows and then dropping them before they have a chance to gain traction and they hurt my soul every year.

ON THE OTHER HAND. Lucifer, Season 2. Brooklyn 99!

I'm tentatively curious about Lethal Weapon, just because I remember liking the movies when I was younger, but also remakes of eighties action movies don't really tend to scan well in television series. (STILL MOURNING SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, FOX.) However, my dad wants to watch it, so I'll make time for an ep or two. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about the white dude losing his wife and his unborn baby before the series begins to explain his reckless behavior, but I'm still not surprised.

I'm super excited about Pitch because I love love love me some inspirational sports movies, and this one just thrills me right down to my toes. She's POC! IT'S FUCKING BASEBALL. YYYYYYYYYY I really am ridiculously excited, because I am dumb. -.- It's going to be cancelled after one season. If it makes it to season 2, I'll be surprised. But I think I'll enjoy the ride while it's here.

Which brings me next to The Exorcist! With it being on network television, I doubt it's going to be as scary as I want it to be, but... Demons. Possession. Geena Davis. They're going to have to pry this show out of my cold, dead hands.

Also, I may watch Prison Break? Just because I love Wentworth's face. I'm still only halfway through the second season of PB, but I've spoiled myself on enough that I should be able to follow it pretty easily.

I'm going to continue watching The Voice, especially with the addition of Alicia Keyes joining the cast. I haven't really LOVED it the last two seasons? But I enjoy watching the way they work on music. It's just a nice, mindless thing to watch.

Timeless is another one I'm interested in—I really am weak to time travel, omg. I don't have any particularly strong feelings about it yet, negative or otherwise, so I guess we'll see.

I'm also vaguely curious about Powerless, just because DC tv shows are almost always better than the movies (with the exception of Gotham, which has become super gross, imo) but I hear its also supposed to be a comedy? I'm definitely on the fence about that.

Aaah, my fannish home. Like I mentioned before, I'm definitely watching Supergirl, although I am annoyed they're bringing Superman, Superboy and possibly Mon El into it, because if I wanted to watch dudes, I'd watch a different show. I'm willing to reserve judgement, though, because I super enjoyed the first season. (I'm also torn because Maggie Sawyer is a latina lesbian cop, which I adore, but also RENEE FUCKING MONTOYA. YOU DON'T NEED TO FUCKING RACEBEND IF THERE'S SOMEONE WHO CAN FILL THE ROLE, IJS.)

Flash, of course, is my jam, and I'm stoked beyond belief because Cold will be in the 4th episode of the third season and I feel like I'm the only person in fandom who's glad that it's not going to be the version of Len that's the LoT hero? I mean, my preference is obvs for E1!Len, because he's amazing, but seeing him back in his criminal exploits gives me a thrill of delight. I want him to be morally gray, and I can't wait to see him and the Legion of Doom.

On the same token, I'm cautiously optimistic about Legends of Tomorrow, because it looks like we might get a coherent storyline? We have the JSA, the Legion of Doom, Vixen (Mari's Grandma!) and I just feel that without WM there to take the weight of the shitty writing, the others will have a chance to shine, like they did in the S1 finale.

Other than my three faves, I'm super interested in Frequency. I loved the movie, like, seriously, loved it SO MUCH, and it was so internally consistent and I LOVE IT I may actually have to watch it tonight, for real, I love it so much. But add to that Peyton List, AND a series of hours in which all sorts of things can go horribly wrong AND a serial killer? THIS SHOW WAS MADE FOR ME, OKAY?

So, tl;dr

Shows I'm definitely watching:

* Designated Survivor
* Still Star-crossed
* Lucifer
* Brooklyn 99
* Pitch
* The Exorcist
* The Voice
* Flash
* Supergirl
* Legends of Tomorrow
* Frequency

JFC, that's a lot of fucking television. The other shows I talked about under the cuts are all on provisional basis.

Oh yes, I'm looking forward to Lucifer, too! And of course, Arrow, LoT, Flash & Supergirl. Although I have to catch up on so many episodes!

And OMG, there's going to be a Frequency tv show? I love that movie, re-watched it recently when [personal profile] blnchflr came to visit. And yeah, time travel is totally my favourite trope. *g*

You're welcome!

Hmmm, some interesting new shows on offer, it looks like. I don't know if I will add anything, though. I already have a hard enough time getting through what I have been watching. /o\

But, yes, Frequency was a great movie. I do hope the show is good too.

And, yes why does FOX cancel everything great before this time????
