Today after work,
dungeonmarm and I had dinner at The Purple Cow (This great little dinner, and it has such a good veggie burger. Nom.) After dinner, though,
dungeonmarm took me to a little park that's right behind the Hendrix Villiage—it has a boat motif and a little slide, and a very small stage and some benches for seating. I could absolutely imagine doing a sword fight on that thing. I think it would be fun.
It was getting dark by that time, but the weather was really nice and cool, and I convinced
dungeonmarm to walk a little trail that we found. We didn't walk it all the way, but there was a tree that had snapped in half along the way, and we turned back at a fork in the woods—one direction we didn't go in at all, because it was too dark, but the other direction led to nowhere, with an overgrown set of monkey bars in the foliage.
Little things like that are so cool. I want to walk the whole thing sometime and see where it ends up.
Funnily enough, apparently
dungeonmarm's family used to hike together when he was younger, and me and my father did a lot of hiking before my asthma got too bad and his knees got too pained, so we're thinking of going again. I have my emergency inhaler with me, and we'll be going slow, so I think it would be nice to go up to Petit Jean mountain and hike for a while.
dungeonmarm knows a hiking song. His family is made of hobbits.
I do not know any hiking songs. Am I relieved, or just amused?

Oh, Petit Jean is beautiful, and there's a trail with a waterfall that's so damn refreshing (if you go in the summer; might be chilly now).

It's, um. Jaunty. Can a song be jaunty?
The Cedar Falls trail is the one we usually hiked when I was a kid, but we did Seven Hollows sometimes, too. I think I've technically done them all, but those are the only two I really remember doing regularly.
