December Meme - Day 11

[personal profile] dungeonmarm asked: Would you rather write the perfect novel and publish it anonymously, never receiving credit or payment for it, or publish a poor-quality novel that nevertheless becomes very popular and makes you rich and famous? Not even your family and friends can know you wrote the perfect novel.

At first, my brain went offline, and I was like OMG THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTIONS.

Now that I'm looking at it, the answer is terribly easy for me.

I would choose to write the perfect novel and publish it anonymously. As much as I like comfort, I don't need to have the fame and fortune that goes along with writing a huge book series. I would rather buy a copy and love it quietly, because if this is the perfect novel by my standards, I'd be able to actually *read* my own work for a change, and that would be an absolute delight.

Wow. I would totally go the latter choice. If I'm going to the effort of publishing it, I really want a payday at the end. Huh. I didn't know that about myself.
