Fall television round up

Just a few thoughts on the television I'm watching right now. Will include spoilers.

Elementary remains perfect in every way I could possibly desire. Jamie Moriarty, I'm passionately in love with you. And Mycroft. Even the mysteries are fun.

This last episode was crap. Utter bullshit. How dare you say two episodes ago that Conquest was involved and then bring in Pestilence? I have serious, serious issues with Pestilence as one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, especially after I started writing my Supernatural season four epic. It's Conquest, okay? I don't need your Pestilence bullshitery. But that—that was the least of my unhappiness.

Roanoke is one of my favorite mysterious mass disappearances, and for it to be this weird time pocket to hide from the evils of pestilence? Uuugh. Abbie was stupider than usual, and Ichabod seemed to be making all the jumps that Abbie, as a detective, should have been making. And that whole nonsense about baptism basically being the cure for the pestilence disease rankled me. We get it. You're writing Biblical fiction. Everything is about faith and the unknown and uuuuugh.

I just want a show with Abbie and Jenny and Orlando Jones having his boyfriend Victor Hendrickson the CDC agent around, along with all the lovely colorful extras (seriously! the Asian cdc agent! The black EMT in the sandman episode! John Cho as a harbinger!) If I never saw Ichabod and his tendency to talk and be judgy and talk and angst over Katrina or see them cry at each other I would be the happiest lady ever. I mean, it's not a great show, but come on. Abby and Jenny are the reasons I'm coming back. I certainly hope the next episode is better.

Also, pestilence. PESTILENCE! DID THE WRITER OF THAT EPISODE EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO SH CONTINUITY? AAARGH.

I am so bored. Coulson and Melinda are the best things about it, and if I have to see Skye and Ward complain about each other again I'm going to claw my face off. It's MARVEL. It's SHIELD. Why can't I give a damn about anything that's happening?

Also, Coulson is totes a Life Model Decoy, isn't he?

In other news, Akela was seriously hardcore awesome, and SHIELD could do with more characters like her around. Also, I was very disappoint that Ward wasn't even willing to attempt seduction. Natasha wouldn't have let that crap go, btw.

So yes. Three characters being interesting is way better than the normal two.

I'm starting to feel like I'm watching a different show than I usually am, and that is good. It's almost like they're trying to become quality programming, which makes me angst because I know Supernatural. It's doing this just so it can hurt me later.

But! But!

Everything about it! Abbadon being terrifying in a way that the demons haven't been since season one in "Phantom Traveler". She's taking Hell back and making her demons tougher and not tolerating awfulness and I love it. Tracy! Not only did they subvert the 'woman needing help at the side of the road' by making her a hunter, she's a POC hunter chick who survived the episode! We saw Kevin again, and his mother might not be dead! Ezekiel's shadow! Dean called Kevin and Cas family! dfkjdlskxjflskjfdkjsl

Okay, so the boys were kind of dumb in this one and Jared Padalecki still can't act worth a damn, but there's so much I like about the show right now. I feel rejuvenated in my fannish love, for real.

Also, I ship Sam/Ezekiel. That ship is sailing. It's not like, at Dean/Castiel levels? But it could totes get there, and I am excite.

How dare you say two episodes ago that Conquest was involved and then bring in Pestilence?

In their slight defense, they did mention that Pestilence was also known by the name of Conquest, so I think they tried to cover their bases. (And after reading Good Omens as a youngster, I'm a bit fond of Pestilence as a horseman. I mean, a horseman that totally deserves to be replaced by Pollution, but still.)

so, Coulson is totes a Life Model Decoy, isn't he?

You know, I don't know on that. If he was effectively a high-level cyborg/android, wouldn't Akela have been able to see that when she closed her eyes? I mean, surely she would have noticed a total non-human replacement... and probably not trusted him. The way she suggested "what did they do?" suggests something smaller than LMD.

Also, I was very disappoint that Ward wasn't even willing to attempt seduction. Natasha wouldn't have let that crap go, btw.

*snerk* No, she wouldn't have.

I just want you to know that when the words, "Pestilence, also known as Conquest," came out of his mouth, I cackled and announced to the cat, "Rachel is having a fit right now."

I was SO DISAPPOINT about the Ward/no seduction moment. >:(
