Gah. I've talked so much about Heroes lately that I don't even know if I have the strength to do a full review of the episode. *laughs* But here goes.
* There should have been more Matt. Because he should just be in every episode. I love him that much, even when he's a moron.
* I love Bennet andSylar Gabriel and Claire. Gabriel saved Claire and asked her if she was all right and totally laid into Papa Bennet in the car for her sake! And he secretly wants Papa Bennet to be his dad, too. We don't need no clockmaker when we have HRG! I would almost be bothered with how adorably awesome he is if I didn't love him so very much.
* I am sad to say that I did not believe the vortex guy wasn't really a villain until he killed himself? I should know better, because Echo was down there, too, and Echo was awesome.
* Is it just me, or wasKensei Adam really squishable in this episode? I was just like, awwww, the time in the coffin mellowed him out! He was really just acting like a villain to get attention from Hiro all of these years. I'm surprised he didn't call him 'carp'.
* However, Hiro stabbed Ando! That was totally not on. I mean, logistically you can think that as soon as they all leave the bar, Hiro can freeze time and run in and get Ando to a hospital before he dies, but there has to be a really, really small window in which he'll be able to do that, because he'll have to time it exactly right in order not to mess things up. And I do not blame Ando in the least for what he might do in the future. Hiro deserves it. I loved Hiro in the past two seasons, even with him being stupid over Keiko, and I like what they're doing with him, because it is very realistic. Hiro is one of the few that hasn't really experienced the dark side of his powers and of being a hero (like Peter, but I'll get to him in a moment) and Ando was right when he said Hiro was self-righteous. He's gotten into the way of thinking that just because he managed to help save the world in both seasons, that he knows what's right, regardless, to the point when he's ignoring very good advice from other people (ie his father when he told him not to open the safe, Ando when he asked to be let in on the plan and be trusted, for God's sake, because he has been so completely faithful to him. And he gets stabbed for his loyalty. Christ.) And now he's a spy, but I wonder how long that's going to last. People are morally flexible in certain situations. Even Hiro Nakamura.
* Okay, Peter. Now, I had this called all the way back in season one that if Peter ever successfully activated Sylar's power within himself (and it's stupid that it hasn't happened before, because every single other power that Peter's had came automatically just from being in the same general area.) But the Powers That Be forced Peter to actually search out that gift? The only thing I can think of to make sense of that is that the nature of Gabriel's power provided it's own sort of defense, because he knows how Peter's power works and can maybe shore up defenses against it. At least, until the moment when he purposely lets down his guard, which is what happened last week in the future. Also, Peter's a lot stupider about using that power than Sylar ever was. That's another thing that I liked about the disparity between them -- Sylar has always been able to bring his powers quickly under control, and Peter never has, most likely because the power absorption relies on an emotional response, and one can hardly ever control their emotions. And Peter went after his mother! Dude. Not cool.
* Claire. Totally lied to that cheerleader friend about what she was really doing that weekend. That was about the coolest thing I've seen this season from her so far. And she got into HRG's weapons. I am gleeful. But then she is stupid about capturing villains, and that annoys me. If she really wants to learn how to defend herself, why doesn't she just take self-defense classes? That would be a good place to start, instead of bothering people that really have world-changing work to do. Take responsibility for yourself, Claire. You say you don't want to be a victim, but you're still depending on other people to make your choices.
* And also, Sandra is so awesome. If she ends up being the one shot by Claire in the next episode, I'm going to be very, very upset.
* Which brings me to Meredith, and her absolute real lack of caring for Claire. She was all 'omg, we should find her' and then she abandoned the search for her daughter to go after a creep. She had to have known that the Puppet guy was dangerous for her, which is why she went after him so immediately. But! She should have brought some sort of backup with her, because if she were any sort of intelligent agent, she would have known that she couldn't face him herself. Unless she thought she could surprise him and get the first hit. People and their obsessions always screw things up. Hello, Claire and Mr. Bennet. I am indeed talking to you, too.
* Oh! I have done research on Pinehearst! It's a biotech company. Everyone has been wearing those pins. I wouldn't be surprised if the Petrellis had stock in it.
* Mohinder. The more I see of him (and by the way, how much do I love his music now. In the same way that Sylar had the ticking clock in the background, Mohinder now has that rattling sound. It's so unnerving.) So. Two theories on what he's turning into. My favorite is that he's becoming more lizard-like, just because his father had Mohinder-the-lizard, but actually, another option might be that he's turning into a cockroach. Which weirds me out. Strong, can climb up walls, the scaly-chitin things are brown. I don't know. I also don't know why he can do sticky slime stuff on the walls. Of course, he's mutated himself, so assuming we'll get like, a nice and clean view of what he can do is wishful thinking. I do admire this show's guts though. They're turning one of their prettiest people into a lizard-bug thing. That's awesome. He's also really freaking scary. Maya should have killed him when she had the chance.
* Oh my god, okay. So, Nathan and Niki/Tracy/Barbara and who knows how many others are fake? This is so fascinating. And by the way, I don't buy Mama Petrelli's "we knew this was wrong, so we split the formula up" because if she had really been serious about it, they would have destroyed it, and not made it accessible by anyone! It's a sheet of paper, people! Take a lighter to it! And you wonder why everything gets screwed up. However, that makes it really dangerous for Nathan and Tracy to go visit Mohinder, because he's going to tack them to the wall the same way he has everyone else, and he's going to find out that they are the ones he's going to have to experiment on in order to save himself.
* I actually didn't realize that Maury Parkman was behind the Linderman thing, so that was a pleasant surprise. How did he manage to get himself untrapped? Actually, it's probably a pretty good idea to think that Arthur was the one that released him, because we saw evidence of him being able to affect Mama Petrelli's mind while she was in her vision, so it's an easy supposition that he was able to travel into Maury's mind as well to rescue him. That would also explain Maury's loyalty to him, because he seems the sleazy, follower-type kind of character to me. Like the way he was, working for Adam.
* I totally called Arthur Petrelli being alive. That was the only thing that made sense, given Mama Petrelli's reaction to him in the preview.
* Also, can we please have less Daphne now? Or, at least, will Matt finally convince her to make her hair less annoying? Gah.
That was wordier than I expected.
Chuck, by the way, is still awesome. Because everyone loves him. The end.

Haha, I tried googling "cockroach nest" to see if cockroaches made weird web/nest things like Mohinder, but it made my skin crawl before I could even start looking. It reminded me of a spider, though, more than a lizard or cockroach, if only because he wrapped them up the way he did. But what connection does a spider have with anything on this show (except comic books)?
Other brief thoughts:
Peter: still annoying.
Mohinder: still a genius.
Matt: still awesome even off-screen.
Daphne: growing on me, would grow faster if she cut/dyed her freaking hair.
Maya: still pretty.
Nathan: still has a harem in an AU somewhere.
Hiro: WHUT WHY I HOPE YOU GO BACK IN TIME AND AND AND DO SOMETHING DAMN IT. But I agree that Hiro needs to come down off his high horse and see that even he is susceptible to morally gray decisions.

Peter: Stupid. Uses everything except his brain. I am over him. He could be written out and I'd be fine with that.
Mohinder: See Peter. Only more so. Leave and take Maya with you.
Nathan: More, please!
Hiro: Needs to be slapped. Then hugged. Then slapped again.
Ando: I will nurse him back to health myself. The most interestingly-developed character this season after Nathan and Sylar.
Sandra: Rocks!
HRG: Please adopt me, Noah.
Claire: Stupid, stupid, reckless, stupid. But that's because she's 17, so I accept it.
Daphne: I LIKE her!
Matt: Stay in the desert. I have no interest, because, like Peter, Mohinder and Claire, he never thinks about what he's doing.
Mama Petrelli, Sylar, Linderman, Arthur: Now THAT's good TV!
Haitian: Come home, we miss you!
