So. I've nothing to say because work is work and writing is being a bitch, but more important than all of that is that my laptop is having seizures.

The sound isn't working.

The audio jack for the headphones has been dead for at least the last six or seven months.

Sometimes the fan makes a little funny sounding sort of noise.

These I can handle. These are normal, and could quite possibly wait until I have money for general repairs.

But now. Now, Yuuri (That's my laptop's name, by the way, because he's an XPS M-140, which is the cute younger brother to the sexy older brother that is the XPS M-170) has to decide he's absolutely going to put me through hell by deciding his screen is going to be cranky. So now I have to tap the screen every so often to get rid of the lines that criss-cross it, and sometimes it doesn't work at all unless I apply some sort of equal pressure on both sides of the screen. I have no idea what's wrong with it, and I have no money to use to try and figure it out. Suckage.

Aw, poor Yuuri. :( [sends quit-fritzing vibes]

I appreciate it. Even if he doesn't. :-/

I hate laptops, it seems that most have a brief lifespan after which they just deteriorate to nothingness (battery, hard drive, fan, screen, and touchpad all seem to go bad at once)

I really love laptops, in general. I love the portability, the ease of having a writing program at my fingertips any time. I've been lucky, I guess, because this laptop has really been good to me for the last couple of years. I just wish I could afford to give him the repairs he deserves.

I adore mine. It's been three years, and though it's getting kinda slow, I've never had a major problem with it. Only two tiny problems that, if I knew anything about computers, I could have fixed myself in five minutes.

that means that the lcd screen is going out and its going to be hella expensive to repair.

Its possible that the cable is loose and just needs to be put back into place, but when ours did that it slowly ate at itself until the backlight went too.

An easy solution that totally negates its portability is to buy a monitor and hook it up.

It really is just cheaper to buy a new one and sell that one for parts.
