It's not a joke. There is a "church" that shows up at soldiers' funerals with signs saying these people were killed because America permits homosexuality, and abortion, and a number of other things. I saw a documentary about one of the families at the forefront of this -- they were called "the most hated family in America" and I agree. In the name of their so-called religion they condemn everyone in the world who is not part of their tiny group.
The people in this video aren't condemning the people who are 'not part of their tiny group'; they're condemning the whole world and saying it's too late to change God's mind. I believe this song is a joke. Sadly, Fred Phelps and his ilk are all too real.
I know that the 'church' exists, definitely--I just can't imagine any one who wanted to be taken seriously doing something like this. It's so over the top and ridiculous. I'm alternately amused and really, really concerned.
