Supernatural fic pet peeve

Okay. Whenever someone writes that Sam calls Dean 'De' or when Dean calls Sam 'baby', I gag. Like, it literally induces physical gagging in me.

Does that make me a bad person? Or just crazy? 'Cause you know, I can totally live with crazy. :D

It makes you a SANE HUMAN BEING. Liek, "De" wtf? When has Sam ever called him that? That would be approximately never. And the only reasons Dean would call Sam "baby" would be a)to piss him off or b)he says it during sex without realizing it. *gag*

Although, really? The only way I could even get past Dean accidentally calling Sam 'baby' is if Sam stopped what he was doing to mock Dean mercilessly. ^^;;

I never thought it would happen, but there have been like, a rash of writers (or writer--I don't know. Maybe it's just one person who's really prolific, and I just don't read SN fic enough to tell because--look at names to find out who is writing, what? *headdesk*)

Every time I read it, I die a little inside. *laughs*

LULZ. I have never, ever seen this "De" thing. Wtf? Why would you shorten a one-syllable name?

The "baby" thing bothers me less, but the context has to be right. If he's joking or talking dirty? Hell yes! As a random pet name? Doesn't he have "Sammy" and "princess" for that?

My personal pet peeve is still "slapped him upside the head." This phrase annoys me in real life, so when I read it in fic, I swear my eye twitches a little. And that phrase? Happens a lot. Even with the really, really good writers out there. :((((!

You're so lucky you haven't seen the 'De' thing. I don't even remember where I first saw it, but it was like, 'huh?' and then 'wtf?' until it finally became '*gag* no more please!!'

I think I have a peeve about pet names in general. You know, baby, sweetheart, honey, darling, that sort of thing. I don't mind 'Sammy' because that's as much snark as it is a pet name, but I just can't tolerate 'baby' unless Sam calls him on it. Which, of course, I've never read him to do. I angst.
