Thank god for pirated copies

I had no idea Wicked was so much fun! I mean, I like the soundtrack, but seriously. The play is great. And it made me screech when plot thingee A, B, and C happened. ^_____^

What is "Wicked" about?

[identity profile] lunesque.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Wicked is basically the story of the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz--. It's based off the book by Gregory Maguire. It's really kind of interesting, because the premise of the whole this is "Are people born Wicked? Or do they have Wickedness thrust upon them?" It details how the Wicked Witch became wicked in the first place.

It's also a wonderful friendship story between Elphaba (the wicked witch) and Glinda the Good.

Honestly, I was really suprised how good it was. ^_^

:(

I want to read. It sucks not having access to books anymore. Speaking of which, I will remember to see if I have the entire Island series.

*sticks post it to forehead*

Seriously, I kind of think it depends on your mood. I couldn't really get through the book but I love the play. Of course, the play is a lot fluffier than the book.

I'll have to check out both then. I saw the book forever ago, and it seemed pretty interesting, but eh. I just need to get back into reading again. And writing.

The play, despite its gloomy ending, is sunshine and fucking daffodils compared to the book. The novel is excellent; the play mediocre at best, however amusing.

The book is better-- I just couldn't get through it. I think I gave my copy to my mother, so I'll talk to her and see if I can get it back.

The play's ending isn't as gloomy as you'd think, actually. You should come watch it with me--I have a pirated copy, yo!

Right, ending on nobody mourning the protagonist's death is positively peppy.

OMG. You have to watch it with me because I refuse to spoil you.

No big rush or anything, but thanks! ^__^ Still have to search through all my boxes for Island. Goodness, I never knew I had that many books.
