Ha, almost missed my day three deadline! this is filler! <3
ETA:
Okay, now that I've TOTALLY CHEATED and beaten the midnight deadline, I'm actually going to write my post.
First of all, I absolutely feel better than I did yesterday, which I'm so grateful for, because when I spiral, I spiral hard, and I'm glad I didn't have to expel extra energy trying to get back to normal. Jill the Siamese Cat helped.
Secondly,
sperrywink gave me a whole bunch of prompts, so let's get to it!
How about what about Coldflash attracts you the most?
Ha. OMG, I haven't really unpacked that for myself yet.
Okay, so, honestly. When I first started watching the Flash, I shipped him with literally everyone he shared the screen with. Ollie? I was there. Reverse Flash? SO THERE. But then there was Wentworth Miller, and while I'd never watched Prison Break, I know enough people who loved that show to recognize his face. I didn't actually start shipping coldflash until the 23rd episode of season 1, where Len betrayed Barry and let the metas out. It had everything to do with the scene in Saints and Sinners, and the way they got up in each other's space.
So at that point, I just shipped it sort of casually, along with every other ship that I sort of liked.
And then they gave us the gem of an episode that was "Family of Rogues." Season 2, Ep 3, and still my favorite episode so far.
For one, I very strongly felt that every time I saw Cold, he was being played more and more queer by WM, like he was trying to see how far he could push before the network pushed back. Secondly, Barry went undercover and went on a heist with Len. I mean. The only thing that would have made this episode even more explicitly for me would have been if there were coldflash kisses, for real.
As for what attracts me to coldflash the most... I don't know. I just really feel they balance each other in a lot of ways. Barry is so fierce in believing the best of people, and there's something so satisfying about Leonard Snart responding to that. (I have a weakness for well written redemption stories.) Len could teach Barry a lot, and all things considered, they're very equal, unlike the intense power imbalance between Barry and the Reverse Flash.
I can only day dream about what their relationship would have grown into if Legends of Tomorrow hadn't plucked Cold out of the Flash narrative, since I honestly don't expect our Len that we've grown to know to come back. And I'm mourning that a little. :/
