The Maze Runner
I saw The Maze Runner today and my non-spoilery review is simply 'meh.'
There wasn't anything wrong with the movie? But it didn't do anything for me. The credits started rolling, and I thought, 'Yep. That's a movie.'
Now, this could just be a bad adaptation of a decent book, or it could simply be that I'm a lot more picky about my media than I used to be, IDK. But there were no surprises. I was pleased to see Aml Ameen playing Alby, because I didn't recognize him at first, but of course he dies. There's only two women in the entire film, and maybe that's plot important and gets explained later on? But for today I just sat there thinking that I was basically watching a toned-down version of Lord of the Flies (which I also hate and every time I try to watch the movie I legit fall asleep.)
The maze part was cool? But the Grievers were less than impressive to me. Even when people died, I was completely un-engaged. Of course, all but two out of like, eight, poc died. Which I expected. I'm not really a fan of Dylan O'Brien, so even seeing his face didn't affect me. I did like the guy who played Minho though. He was pretty cool.
Maybe someone who's more attached to the books/Dylan O'Brien might like the movie better, but I was not impressed. I didn't dislike it, I didn't like it. It's just a movie.
