It's been a while, everyone!

Here's a list of things I've been doing, in list form, because I am lazy.

* On November 2nd, Jon and I went to see Audra McDonald at the Reynolds Performance Center at UCA and she was stunning. Witty, funny, and of course her voice was top notch. [personal profile] dungeonmarm likes to eavesdrop, so he was telling me that he didn't think the audience knew who she was, and I was like, but she's AUDRA MCDONALD, that's silly, how could the not know who she is, she's won five Tonys! Sure enough, though, as people were coming out, they were like, 'wow, I didn't even know who she WAS' and my hope for humanity plummeted. At least they know who she is now, though, because AUDRA MCDONALD.

* I've slowly started getting interested in the flow arts, because [personal profile] scheherezhad has taken up hula hooping and [personal profile] dungeonmarm has started swinging poi. The one I'm most interested in is contact staff, just because I took some lessons in staff usage when I was younger and I like twirling it. I made a staff to use for practicing tricks, but after using it a couple of times, I've decided it's far too heavy. Also, it's pretty much a weapon, so I don't want to hit myself in the head and give myself a concussion. I would still be practicing, but it has gotten so bitterly cold here that I just want to cry and curl up with my heating pad. The cold is really getting to me a lot easier this year.

* We had our 2nd Annual Conway Comicon this month. There wasn't really very much to look at--we have a very tiny artist alley, I only really had time for one panel that ended up being a totaly smoozefest for how much everyone in the universe loves Erik Larsen, which is fine, but yes. Panels need more women, kthnx. On the upside, while I was looking for someone to do a Renee Montoya commission for me (I didn't get one, but that's okay) I discovered that Jeremy Haun was actually at our con, and he's going to be the new artist for Batwoman. He was super awesome, and was willing to chat with me about my concerns for Batwoman, the fact that I'm not as upset as most people about the change in creative control, and how much I really really want to see Renee Montoya back in comics. It was way cool. There was a lot of interesting cosplay, too. I'm thinking of trying to create a rule 63 Cyclops, because he needs more love.

*I've been promoted, a little against my will. Starting December 8th, I'm going to be a front end coordinator, which sounds vaguely terrifying. I've always been a sort of sideways supervisor, the kind that's just an experienced employee with no real power, but now there's tons of stuff I'll have to personally keep an eye on, and the idea is a little overwhelming. I'm not in a full out panic anymore, but I'm still uneasy. Hopefully that will go away once I have some actual experience.

* My dad bought me a new charger for my laptop, which means I can now charge Natasha while I'm using her, which is a huge relief. It's tough to get in the groove with writing when I have to switch between computer and paper. I still love writing on paper though, so I'll keep doing it, but it's nice to have the option to just write on the computer.

* Speaking of writing, my NaNo is going terribly. I'm so far behind it's ridiculous. I have the next couple of days off, though, so I'm hoping to slam out a ton of words to at least get close to word goal. I'll have to cut myself off from online games, but it's a small price to pay.

* I've been keeping up on Sleepy Hollow, Almost Human, SHIELD, SPN, Glee and Elementary. As usual, Elementary is brilliant. Everything else is tolerable. RE: Sleepy Hollow--I am officially only watching it for Abbie, Jenny, and Irving. Every time Ichabod opens his mouth, I want to die and I start clawing at my face in misery. I'm displeased with 'Pestilence, also known as Conquest' because HA NO, and I'm also displeased with the Horseman of Death being a jerkwad who's pissed off because he didn't get to sleep with Katrina and Ichabod did. I'm done with the Woman as a Prize trope. More Abbie and Jenny, please!

*Yesterday, I got my hair trimmed, so it's nice and even and I'm in love with my hairstyle again. However, the stylist didn't ask me if I wanted product in my hair, and she put mousse in it before I stopped her. (My glasses were off and I couldn't see what she was doing.) As it turns out, I ended up being allergic to the mousse, and have spent the last 24 hours sneezing and sniffling and coughing, and that's even with my Claritin easing a lot of my symptoms. I wanted to die last night. I'm feeling mostly human this morning.

That's the news in my corner of the world. I'll try not to stay away too long. Maybe I should put daily reminders on my calendar.

Hopefully that will go away once I have some actual experience.

*fingers crossed!*
